Candela VBeam Perfecta

Candela VBeam Perfecta is an advanced laser treatment designed to target redness, visible blood vessels, and a variety of vascular skin conditions. It uses pulsed dye laser technology to deliver concentrated light energy into unwanted blood vessels beneath the skin without damaging the surrounding tissue. The laser energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, causing them to collapse and gradually be cleared away by the body over time.

At Beacon Dermatology in Asheville, North Carolina, VBeam is used to treat both cosmetic and medical skin concerns associated with redness and inflammation. The treatment is known for its precision, versatility, and ability to improve the appearance of the skin with minimal downtime. Many patients choose VBeam because it can significantly reduce redness while maintaining the natural texture and appearance of the skin.

Unlike more aggressive laser procedures that require extensive recovery, VBeam is considered a gentle yet highly effective treatment. It includes a built-in cooling system that helps protect the surface of the skin during treatment while improving comfort throughout the procedure.

What conditions does VBeam treat?

VBeam is commonly used to treat rosacea and chronic facial redness. Many patients with rosacea experience flushing, visible blood vessels, inflammation, and skin sensitivity that can worsen over time. VBeam helps reduce redness and visible vessels while improving the overall appearance of the skin.

The laser is also highly effective for treating broken capillaries and spider veins on the face. These small visible blood vessels often appear around the nose, cheeks, and chin due to sun exposure, genetics, aging, or chronic irritation. VBeam targets the vessels beneath the skin to help them gradually fade.

Cherry angiomas are another condition frequently treated with VBeam. These small red growths are made up of concentrated blood vessels and commonly appear with age. The laser can safely reduce or eliminate these lesions with little impact on surrounding tissue.

VBeam is also used to improve red or pink scars. Surgical scars, acne scars, and injury-related scars often remain red because of excess blood vessels in the healing tissue. Laser treatment can reduce discoloration and help scars blend more naturally with the surrounding skin.

Additional conditions commonly treated include:

  • Facial veins
  • Port wine stains
  • Hemangiomas
  • Red stretch marks
  • Poikiloderma of the neck and chest
  • Acne-related redness
  • Bruising after cosmetic procedures
  • Certain vascular birthmarks

In some patients, VBeam may also be used as part of a broader skin rejuvenation plan to improve skin clarity and reduce overall redness.

What are the advantages of VBeam treatment?

One of the primary advantages is its ability to specifically target red pigmentation and vascular lesions. Many skin concerns related to redness are difficult to improve with topical products alone because the problem originates below the surface of the skin. VBeam directly treats the underlying blood vessels responsible for visible redness.

Another major advantage is the minimal downtime associated with treatment. Most patients are able to return to normal daily activities shortly after their appointment. Mild redness or swelling may occur temporarily, but prolonged recovery is uncommon.

The treatment is also highly customizable. Laser settings can be adjusted based on the patient’s skin type, the condition being treated, and the severity of the concern. This allows our providers to safely treat delicate areas of the face as well as larger areas on the neck, chest, and body.

VBeam is also valued for its versatility. It can treat a broad range of vascular and redness-related conditions while improving overall skin tone and clarity. In many patients, treatment helps restore a more even complexion and reduces chronic flushing or discoloration that may have persisted for years.

Comfort is another advantage. The integrated cooling technology helps reduce discomfort during treatment. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick snapping feeling against the skin that is very tolerable.

For many individuals, VBeam can also improve confidence. Persistent redness, broken capillaries, and visible veins can be frustrating and difficult to conceal. Laser treatment often provides visible improvement that helps patients feel more comfortable in their skin.

What is the procedure?

Before treatment, the skin is cleansed and protective eyewear is provided. Most patients do not require numbing cream because the treatment is relatively quick and well tolerated.

During the procedure, Dr. Rains or Emily, RN place the laser handpiece against the skin and deliver controlled pulses of laser energy into the targeted blood vessels. The device releases a cooling spray before each pulse to protect the skin and increase comfort during treatment.

The length of the procedure depends on the size of the treatment area. Smaller areas may take only a few minutes, while larger areas can require 20 to 30 minutes.

Some patients notice improvement after one treatment, but multiple sessions are often recommended for the best results. Conditions involving deeper or more extensive blood vessels may require several treatments spaced a few weeks apart.

What is the recovery?

Recovery following VBeam is generally mild and manageable. Most patients experience temporary redness and slight swelling immediately after treatment. This typically improves within several hours to a few days.

Some patients may develop temporary bruising or purplish discoloration, especially when treating larger blood vessels or vascular birthmarks. This is a normal response and usually fades within one to two weeks.

Patients are generally able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment. Makeup can often be applied within a day if desired.

Proper sun protection is important during recovery. Patients should avoid excessive sun exposure and use sunscreen regularly to protect the treated skin and reduce the risk of pigmentation changes.

Results continue to improve gradually as the treated blood vessels are naturally cleared away by the body. Many patients experience smoother, clearer, and more even-toned skin over the weeks following treatment. With proper maintenance and skincare, Candela VBeam Perfecta can provide long-lasting improvement in redness and vascular skin concerns.
