What is Dysport?

Dysport is a cosmetic injection that contains a neurotoxin produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. When injected in specific areas in the right amounts, Dysport temporarily blocks the nerve signals or stops muscle movement to get the desired results.

When you squint or frown, your facial muscles create grooves that cause the skin to fold. As you get older and your skin thins and loses its natural elasticity, the constant folding creates etched in lines and creases.

Dysport prevents this muscle movement, giving your skin time to relax and smooth out, restoring your youthful look. Regular Dysport injections may also prevent new lines and wrinkles from forming.

Am I a candidate for Dysport?

Dr. Rains is an expert in cosmetic dermatology and determines if you’re a candidate for Dysport during a consultation. He’s dedicated to patient safety, comfort, and individualized care throughout the process.

Dysport is an FDA-approved treatment for moderate to severe frown lines.

If you have etched-in lines around your eyes or on your forehead, then Dr. Rains may consider you a candidate for Dysport.

What happens during Dysport injections?

Dr. Rains customizes your Dysport injection treatment plan and reviews the details at your consultation.

Prior to treating your skin with Dysport, treatment areas are cleaned and prepped. Dr. Rains carefully and expertly injects the Dysport into specific areas on your face. You may need multiple injections to get the results you expect.

Dysport injections are quick and you can go back to your normal routine after. However, Dr. Rains kindly requests you avoid any strenuous physical activity for at least four hours to prevent bruising.

When can I expect to see results from Dysport?

You may start seeing improvements in your look within two to three days after your injections. But it may take up to 14 days* to see the full results. Dysport injections last 3-4 months on average, although results can be seen up to five months*. You can repeat your injections as soon as you notice the effects wearing off.

To find out more about Dysport and how it can rejuvenate your look, call the Beacon Dermatology office or book an appointment online today.
